MATERIALS and FINISHES*

STANDARD

channels and closures are produced by material coated zinc by the Hot Dipped process prior to fabrication (H.D.G. or pre-galvanized) conforming to a ASTM A653 specification

HDGAF

Channels may be ordered as Hot Dip Galvanized after  fabrication (HDGAF) where the channel is immersed in a molted zinc bath resulting in a zinc coated surface meeting the ASTM A123 standard.

PVC Coating

PVC (poly vinyl chloride) is a corrosion resistant coating offered by Unitron, which is applied over the steel strut and accessories. The PVC coating is applied to the part after it has been cleaned and a bonding agent is applied. At this point the product is pre-heated to approximately 450  degrees  Fahrenheit and passed through a power vinyl plastic which melts onto the item. The coating  applied is smooth  and continuous and ranges from 10 to 20 mils.

Green Channels

produced meet a minimum standard of ASTM A570 and are painted by a power coat, baked on process, with an epoxy, tough coat, dark green paint.

Stainless Steel

channels are produced from a Type 316, ASM A 240 which in a heat resisting Chromium and Chromium -nickel stainless steel sheet.

Clamps and Fittings are electroplated to the ASTM B633 specifications for zinc coatings on ASTM A36 and ASTM A635 Hot Rolled Carbon Steel. Copper plating-Mil-C-14550.

Channel Nuts

are produced from ASTM A575 Carbon Steel bars case hardened to
RC25 and electroplated to the ASTM B633 specification.

Plain

channels are produced form Hot Rolled Carbon Steel conforming to ASM A570 which has a slightly oiled surface.

INTRODUCTION TO THE MANUFACTURING

Unitron's Metal Framing Strut System is produced by a process known as Roll forming.

Roll forming is a continuous cold, smooth, low stress transformation of the metal as it is drawn through a series of forming dies. This process which actually "flows" the metal through the progressive dies obtaining the desired profiles without the stress and shock associated with other manufacturing processes.

The UNITRON System

is the most efficient system of metal framing utilizing a continuous slotted channel with a series of pipe brackets and fittings.

The Unitron Strut System is designed for quick installation using standard tools and fittings to create a structure with strength of a welded structure. The "erector set" construction is fully adjustable and reusable allowing it to solve any type of support problem

Unitron's Metal Framing System provides:

-

the structural performance, with economical installation, required by the electrical,

-

plumbing, mechanical, industrial and curtain wall (metal & stone) applications, which requires this unlimited variety of structural framing.

Most importantly, all of the Unitron's product line meets or exceeds the industrial standards for the design and manufacturing required in the Metal Framing Manufacturing Industry.

The Unitron continuous slotted concrete inserts are manufactured from the standard channel sections. Concrete inserts are used where a continuous insert slot is required for the attachment for piping, framing or equipment to concrete structures at any point along the channel.

They may be installed in floors, walls or ceilings. The concrete inserts can be nailed to forms through the holes provided. End caps and closure strips are provided to prevent concrete seepage.

UN 207-12 Is designed for a 1500 pounds/ft on lengths from 12" to 20 ft. Loads within the last 2 inches og inserts should not exceed 750 pounds

UN 307-12

UN 407-12
